In 3-d art class we had to make a stuffed animal but it had
to have a cub as a face. The teacher gave us a paper to put our ideas down. I
drew mine in a few seconds, a bear covered in sticky candy and its eyes were in
two different directions while its tong came out of the face onto the ground.
Then the cube head would have a small body with four legs that was pressed on
the floor as if it couldn't get up because it ate too much sugar (or its head
was too big). At the time I was craving for sugar that’s why I even made the
lollipops smothered all over this creature, which was supposed to be a bear.
During
class time we were sewing the thing that we drew, making the drawing into a 3-D
figure. Everybody’s ideas in our class were stupendous; dice, jellyfish, Mine craft creepers, cameras, bunnies, even a little boy inside of a cube. Each person was
making an object that was so unique. I watched as every student was half way
finished with their stuffed animals while mine was 1/6 done. I don’t know what
was taking me so long, I started earlier by two days, I usually am the first
kid to finish any project so then why was I behind? Days past and it seemed I
was still about in the same spot that I started in; I was still questioning
myself very confused now. Even one of my friends who was gone for a week was
ahead of me!
Everyone,
except me, was nearly down so the teacher set the due date on Monday. No matter how much I tried to get my sugar
rush bear finished I was still about in the same place. So I was determined to
finish it all on Sunday, right before the actual time it must be turned in. On
that Sunday all I did was sew and sew while watching I Love Lucy. My mother
started getting bothered that I was just sitting on the coach while making my
stuffed animal for the whole day. She thought it would be best if she were to
help me. But I knew once I put matters into someone else’s hands things don’t
turn out how I wanted them to be. Yet again, I was getting bored of watching
the screen and putting the needle in and out. So I let her put a little design
on the tong of the bear. About 9:00 p.m.
I was almost finished with my project, all I had to do was place stuffing in
the head and sew the body and head to one and other. Apparently we didn't have
any cotton balls so my mother gave me plastic bags. Plastic bags! The words
gives me a sick feeling, I don’t want to use grocery holders into my piece of
art. It would just give a weird feeling when you pressed your face into
it. In the end I used those plastic
bags…. They actually gave a character to my teddy bear.
On
Monday I showed my 3-D stuffed animal to my teacher, she told me that it wasn't due till Wednesday. I was a little shocked at first because I knew that the due
date was Monday….Oh well, now I have extra time to study for a bunch of tests and finish my next book.
That sounds like fun!....Not exactly.
I've seen the cube-headed-sugar-bear and now understand it what it represents. I guess all great art is best understood with some description by the artist!
