Electronic Devices for Good and Fun!

Do you ever have it where someone is yelling at you because you’re playing on your electronic device? Most of you are probably shacking your head saying yes, and I know I'm one of those people.  I may not have a kindle or an iPad, nothing high-tech, but I do have a virgin mobile and a scratched up DSI. But even though I have “old” Items I love my DSI a lot, I've had it longer than my phone, Virgin Mobile.
I got my DSI for free actually. It was lunch time in fourth grade. I was talking to my friends of how I wanted an electronic device, since at that time I didn’t have any. My friends asked me, “Want a DSI?”  I screamed to him excitedly, “YEAH!!!” I thought he was teasing me because I didn't have one and people don’t just randomly give you an electronic device. But I was wrong and I was never expecting to get a gift like that. Just a minute later he handed me a DSI! I still couldn’t believe it, “Is this a joke?!”
“It’s yours now,” he said. I was so happy, it was one of the most glorious moments of my life! I screamed. I hugged it. I wanted to cry out to the world. I couldn't believe my eyes, it was amazing! I starred at it, it was so beautiful even though there were a few scratches on it but that did bother me. I kept thanking my friend so much all day long. Even to this day I thank him when I'm drawing on my old scratched up DSI.

I use my DSI a lot, for drawing and playing games on it, and just staring at it. Of course my family gets mad at me for being on this electronic device, but I have a way to use the DSI and have my parents happy while I do it. There's a thing called Flipnote Studio Nintendo where I can draw videos and write them. I use this to write down bubble maps and ideas for stories for school and also for homework. When I have to learn a bunch of Latin roots I just write them over and over on my DSI. Or if I have to study for a science test I draw pictures on my DSI to remember. This makes my parents happy because they know I'm doing some sort of homework. Sometimes they might still be mad and then I tell them “Think about it, but using my DSI for studying I'm saving paper, trees, ink and it makes it funnier for me to draw on my lovely electric device then on paper.”

I love my DSI with all my heart! Beside studying and homework, I use it for brain storming my new stories and practicing to draw something new like new type of eyes or hands. And you can do it: use your electronic devices for good!

And FUN!!!

Sugar Rush Bear

In 3-d art class we had to make a stuffed animal but it had to have a cub as a face. The teacher gave us a paper to put our ideas down. I drew mine in a few seconds, a bear covered in sticky candy and its eyes were in two different directions while its tong came out of the face onto the ground. Then the cube head would have a small body with four legs that was pressed on the floor as if it couldn't get up because it ate too much sugar (or its head was too big). At the time I was craving for sugar that’s why I even made the lollipops smothered all over this creature, which was supposed to be a bear.

During class time we were sewing the thing that we drew, making the drawing into a 3-D figure. Everybody’s ideas in our class were stupendous; dice, jellyfish, Mine craft creepers, cameras, bunnies, even a little boy inside of a cube. Each person was making an object that was so unique. I watched as every student was half way finished with their stuffed animals while mine was 1/6 done. I don’t know what was taking me so long, I started earlier by two days, I usually am the first kid to finish any project so then why was I behind? Days past and it seemed I was still about in the same spot that I started in; I was still questioning myself very confused now. Even one of my friends who was gone for a week was ahead of me!

Everyone, except me, was nearly down so the teacher set the due date on Monday.  No matter how much I tried to get my sugar rush bear finished I was still about in the same place. So I was determined to finish it all on Sunday, right before the actual time it must be turned in. On that Sunday all I did was sew and sew while watching I Love Lucy. My mother started getting bothered that I was just sitting on the coach while making my stuffed animal for the whole day. She thought it would be best if she were to help me. But I knew once I put matters into someone else’s hands things don’t turn out how I wanted them to be. Yet again, I was getting bored of watching the screen and putting the needle in and out. So I let her put a little design on the tong of the bear.  About 9:00 p.m. I was almost finished with my project, all I had to do was place stuffing in the head and sew the body and head to one and other. Apparently we didn't have any cotton balls so my mother gave me plastic bags. Plastic bags! The words gives me a sick feeling, I don’t want to use grocery holders into my piece of art. It would just give a weird feeling when you pressed your face into it.  In the end I used those plastic bags…. They actually gave a character to my teddy bear.

On Monday I showed my 3-D stuffed animal to my teacher, she told me that it wasn't due till Wednesday. I was a little shocked at first because I knew that the due date was Monday….Oh well, now I have extra time to study for a bunch of tests and finish my next book. That sounds like fun!....Not exactly.
